I am a principal in the law firm of Solan, Milhem & Hertel, P.S. which was established in 1988. Me, and my law firm, restrict our practice to the representation of injured and disabled persons in their Worker's Compensation and Social Security disability claims.
I received my undergraduate degree from Oregon State University in 1976 and my Juris Doctor degree from Gonzaga University School of Law in 1979.
Following my admission to the Washington Bar in 1979, I had a short stint in the private practice of law in the area of personal injury. In 1980, I became an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Washington representing the Department of Labor and Industries before the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals, Superior Court and all levels of the Courts of Appeal in workers compensation claims and did so to 1983. Thereafter, I reentered private practice and have since that time solely represented injured workers in Worker's Compensation and Social Security disability claims.
I am a current and active member in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association, Spokane County Bar Association, United States Federal District Court, Eastern District of Washington, United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. In addition, I am a current and active member of the Washington State Association for Justice with whom I have twice served as Chairperson of the Workers Compensation Section. I am also a member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimant's Representatives.
I have also served for several years on the Washington Pattern Jury Instructions Worker’s Compensation sub-committee, I have presented at numerous Continuing Legal Education seminars, published numerous articles for legal publications on the subject of Worker’s Compensation, and have taught the subject of Worker's Compensation as an Adjunct Professor at Gonzaga University School of Law.
